Audience Definition Guidelines
When defining an audience in Digital Intelligence for LinkedIn, it’s important to follow LinkedIn’s rules for attribute combinations. These guidelines help ensure your audience setup runs smoothly and avoids errors.
Attribute Combination Rules
Some attributes cannot be used together, either:
-
Within the same AND relation, or
- Across inclusion and exclusion (e.g., one used in "Include", the other in "Exclude")
Incompatible Attribute Pairs
Attribute | Incompatible with |
---|---|
People who work at |
- Industries - Company size - Company revenue - Company growth |
Job titles |
- Job functions - Seniorities |
Minimum Attribute Requirements
All audience definitions must include location and at least one other targeting attribute (excluding age, gender, or language).
This means an audience cannot be defined by:
-
Only one location
-
Location + age
-
Location + gender
-
Location + language
At least one additional segment (e.g., job title, industry, company size) must be included.
Hot tip 🔥 Always start with a required location and then add a meaningful professional or firmographic attribute to ensure your audience definition is valid.
