How to troubleshoot MCP login issues when using multiple Claude accounts?
Some users have reported issues when using multiple Claude accounts on the same device, especially when interacting with the MCP via both Claude desktop and Claude web (browser).
When using:
-
Claude Desktop (logged in with Claude Account A)
-
Claude Web in a browser (logged in with Claude Account B)
-
And both Claude accounts are connected to the same Audiense account via the MCP
You may encounter some issues: the MCP appears as disconnected in the Claude Desktop app, when attempts to log into the MCP fail, errors appear in server logs during login attempts.
This behavior seems to stem from a session or authentication conflict between the Claude Desktop and Claude Web when both are linked to the same third-party Audiense account, but with different Claude accounts.
To resolve the issue:
-
Log out of Claude Web (browser) completely.
-
Log into Claude Web using the same Claude account as used in Claude Desktop.
-
Retry the MCP login in Claude Desktop – it should now connect successfully.
We recommend:
-
Avoid using different Claude accounts simultaneously on the same device, especially if they share the same Audiense account via MCP.
-
If possible, use only one Claude account per device session when working with MCPs.
-
If you need to switch between accounts, consider using separate browser profiles or incognito windows for session isolation.
