1. How does Affinio determine a Twitter user’s age and gender?
Affinio uses an API to analyze the profile pictures of a sample of Twitter users in your audience to provide age and gender statistics. You can compare cluster-by-cluster results within the overall audience and validate your audience predictions without any time spent on guesswork. Keep in mind that non-face images are excluded and that people will sometimes use non-personal photographs (i.e. a super-fan of Harry Styles may use his image instead of their own).
2. If I want to see a USA-only report, how do I do this?
When creating the report, input “United States,” “US,” or “USA” in the location field to restrict your report to users in this area. This field is available for Twitter Network Graph and Tweet Content reports.
3. Is there a way that I can see both a global perspective and toggle to see only the USA?
At this time, that would require running two reports—one US and one global. You can add these geographic filters during report creation.
4. How do we determine a user's location?
We review the information within a user's account. Our algorithm takes into account permutations of non-standard phrases such as NY, or The Big Apple, and groups them under a single location—New York.
