1. Why would I use this?
This feature allows you to remove historic fans to isolate only new ones from a custom time frame that you define. It’s great for understanding your newest fans, or your competitor's, to attract more like them. Specifically, you may want to study the nuanced personas of emerging followers after a major event (e.g. album release, trailer drop, ad campaign, product launch).
2. Where does it apply?
This feature applies exclusively to the Twitter ‘Network Graph’ report type. The option will surface as a checkbox below the handle entry field, and can be selected either before or after populating that field. Although handles can be added within other report types (e.g. Tweet Content, Segment-a-Cluster, and CSV Upload), this option is not currently supported outside the Network Graph report type.
3. What time ranges are eligible?
Scope your audience to those members who started following a handle (or group of handles) in the past 6 months. Any chosen date range must span a minimum one-week period, and cannot include the current week. If your dates cannot be supported as specified, alternative dates will be suggested. When using multiple handles, all individual handles in the same series must assume the same date range. Tip: We recommend choosing your week(s) using a Sun-Sat timeframe.
4. How are the insights presented?
A New Followers report will look just like any other Twitter dashboard, with the addition of showing your specified Follower date range on the Overview page. As with all other Twitter reports, the Interests section reflects the all-time activity of your scoped audience, while the Content section reflects members’ engagement over the last 30 days.
5. Are there any specific conditions for use?
The New Followers feature can be used on single or multiple handles, with ‘OR’ or ‘AND’ Boolean options. The feature still requires a minimum audience size of 250 members; estimates are not currently available to suggest whether the audience may be too small. It cannot be used in conjunction with the ‘NOT’ exclusion filter, nor can New Followers reports be monitored. New Followers queries can be duplicated or recycled, assuming the newly chosen dates do not fall in the same week as existing reports.
